nooneunimportant:

You tricked me

Well, of course he tricked her! He was a bit surprised Clara didn’t pick up on it before it happened. After all, Rule One. And with just how much of his timeline she had been through, he thought maybe she would’ve seen through the trickery. Though, he was thankful she hadn’t. After all, she would’ve surely died if he’d stayed. Whether by some attack or from simple old age. He would have had to watch her slowly die in front of his eyes.

And The Doctor simply was too selfish to put himself through such a thing.

“I saved you!” He yelled back, sounding confident in his tone. He knew he had, even if she likely hadn’t wanted him to. The weary old Doctor leaned against his cane a tad, caught up in the moment as he felt their argument starting up. Typical. The first time he’d seen his Impossible Girl in three hundred years and she was already cross with him.

You didn’t even say goodbye!

"I am furious with you!” The Time Lord cried back in response. It was really only half-true. He’d gotten good at those after being in the truth field for so long. He needed to. Again, rule number one. And The Doctor wasn’t about to let a truth field change that. Not entirely, at least.

Though, not even halfway through her angered response did he feel a smile erupting on his wrinkled features, small lines around his eyes becoming more apparent as joy ran through his pupils. And with that overwhelming relief at seeing Clara again, he couldn’t help but wobble over to her and grab her up in a hug.

Clara…His Clara…in his arms again. The joy he felt was simply indescribable.

                  I am furious with you!

Oh no. He couldn’t be furious with her. Because she was even more furious with him! I’m not even talking to you!‘ Not true. She was still cross with him…but a bit. Seeing him there, after an undisclosed amount of time without seeing him. She was just happy to know that she was with him again. Because that’s how it should’ve been in the first place.

Very soon after shouting at him she just broke her hard face and laughed throwing her arms around him when he came just a bit closer. She missed his hugs. They hadn’t changed and she buried her face into the crook of his neck. 'I’ve missed you.’ she finally said.

Of course she was going to miss the Doctor. Even before when he would pick her up, she would wait anxiously every Wednesday for the bell to ring. For her students to eagerly leave her class that way she would be on her way herself to see the Doctor.

She pulled back from him and got a good look at him, resting her hands on his shoulders. 'How long has it been?’ He looked so much older. He was starting to look his age. However old that was now.

Her look softened the more that she looked at him. Her heart twisted. She felt bad for him. If it was up to her, she wouldn’t have let him get stuck here. Like always she would find a way to help him out. To get him away. And he’d help her. Because that’s what they did. They helped and then left. Because that’s how it was. How it had to be. But they didn’t do that this time. And it caused her Doctor to be stuck in one place for however long.

He still looked as beautiful as ever though.
